Barbera grape is a typical native grape of Piedmont and it is the most widely grown in Piedmont: with its 16,600 hectares represents 35% of the production of regional wine, much more than Nebbiolo, Moscato, Dolcetto, Cortese and even other prestigious varieties. In terms of consumption, the Barbera is one of the four wines best sold in Piedmont, Lombardy and in Emilia (especially in Parma and Piacenza): it is the wine most drunk in the North-West of Italy.
